Extra, extra! Dunedin's beloved Anna Leese will sing the soprano solo role. Get your tickets now from TicketDirect online or at the Regent.

Here is the Hallelujah! chorus from Handel's sacred oratorio Messiah (HWV 56) performed by City of Dunedin Choir and Southern Sinfonia, conducted by David Burchell, on 11 December 2007 in the Dunedin Town Hall.

Silent monks

You might enjoy this! We are rehearsing Messiah now, but certainly not silently. Our performance on Tuesday 13 December will be a few notches above this one, so get your tickets for Messiah without delay!

Merry Christmas!

A few days ago, a whole stack of my friends were involved in a Hallelujah Chorus flash mob in Melbourne.

I thought people might enjoy the Youtube of the event. For me, it's a bit like watching a "who's who" among my Melbourne friends :-) The flashmob was conducted by old time mate Trevor Jones, who is awesome.

So - next year in the Meridien for City Choir, maybe?

Have a lovely Christmas, everyone, and see you in 2011!

Here are two movements from Handel's Messiah, performed by City of Dunedin Choir conducted by David Burchell, with Karen Knudson at the organ.
