Membership enquiries and rehearsal attendance apologies:

Regular Tuesday rehearsals 7:30-9:30 pm are a given, unless stated otherwise.

Sat 1 Jun  Rehearsal, 3:00-5:00 pm in St Paul’s Cathedral 

Fri 28 Jun  Rehearsal, 3:00-5:00 pm in St Paul’s Cathedral 

Fri 28 Jun 
 Visions of Heaven, 5:30 pm in St Paul’s Cathedral. Organ and choir concert to celebrate the wonders of Matariki and other stars.

Tue 20 Aug – Rehearsal with conductor Umberto Clerici, 6:00-7:00 pm, followed by regular rehearsal, at MPC

Fri 23 Aug – Rehearsal: 6:00-7:00 pm piano rehearsal at the Town Hall, followed by a full rehearsal 7:15-10:00 pm

Sat 24 Aug  Mozart Requiem, 7:30 pm in Dunedin Town Hall. This concert, conducted by Umberto Clerici, will be presented by the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra.

Thu 5 Dec – Rehearsal at Knox Church, 7:00-10:00 pm

Fri 6 Dec  Joyeux Noel, 7:30 pm in Knox Church. City Choir and soloists, accompanied by a Dunedin Symphony Orchestra ensemble.

Score loan policy
  • Please use only a soft 2B pencil to mark up the score.
  • Clean the score with a soft eraser before returning it to the Librarian.
  • Return the score by the due date as announced.
  • If you cannot return the score on the due date, please make arrangements to return the score before the due date.
  • If you have lost or badly damaged a score you will be expected to pay for a replacement. (Bach St John Passion: $70.00)
  • If you return your score after the due date you will be liable for a handling, packaging and postage fee of $10.

Where to get Messiah scores
Handel's Messiah is performed every second year. You can get your copy from one of the suppliers listed here: Messiah score. If you have any difficulty with obtaining a score, speak to the choir's Librarian.

Would you like to use the score on your tablet? You can download a PDF of the Novello Watkins Shaw edition of Handel's Messiah suitable for use with forScore on iPad or MobileSheets on Android tablets. This PDF (23 MB) contains bookmarks for the choruses and the usual stands and sits are noted.

100 Carols for Choirs

The choir regularly performs Christmas Carols at the end of the year. Members are expected to purchase their own copies of 100 Carols for Choirs. These can be purchased online from Fishpond

Formal concert dress
For women, the uniform consists of a black top and black skirt or dress trousers, or a black dress. The neckline can be any shape. Sleeves should be 3/4 length, to long. Skirts and trousers should be 3/4 length, to long. Black stockings and black shoes complete the outfit.

For men, the uniform consists of a black dinner suit, white dress shirt, black bow tie, black socks and black shoes.
