Biography for Wendy Doyle, Mezzo-soprano

Wendy studied at Wellington’s Massey University Conservatorium of Music and the Royal College of Music, London.  She created the role of Constanzia in Dorothy Buchanan’s The Daughters of the late Colonel for the Wellington Women’s Festival.  In Britain, Wendy was a member of the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company.  Other engagements included Filipievna: Eugene Onegin, Grandmother/Mayor’s Wife (cover): Jenůfa, Witch/Mother (cover): Hansel and Gretel, Marcellina (cover): The Marriage of Figaro (The NBR New Zealand Opera); Hermia: A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Anglia Opera).  She is a current Resident Artist, Freemasons Opera Scholar and member of the Chapman Tripp Opera Chorus for The NBR New Zealand Opera.  In 2011 Wendy covered the role of Amastre (Xerxes) and played Mamma Lucia in Cavalleria Rusticana for The NBR New Zealand Opera.

Concert engagements have included Haydn Mass in D Minor (King's College Chapel, Cambridge); Grainger - Tribute to Foster (Cambridge); Five Negro Spirituals (Barbican Centre, London); Mozart's Requiem Mass, Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 (Hanover Band, Brighton); The Last Night of the Proms (CSO); SkyCity Symphony (APO).

Upcoming engagements for 2012 include the role of Giovanna in The NBR New Zealand Opera’s season of Verdi’s Rigoletto, and the role of Rossweisse in concert performances of Wagner's Die Walkure (NZSO).
